Data Sources Node

This node, under External Objects in the Workflow Administration Console, allows you to view, add, remove, and configure databases that the Custom Query, Insert Data, Query Data, and Update Data activities can interact with. You can also see which workflows reference a specific data source.

To open this node

  1. In the Workflow Administration Console's Console Pane, expand the External Objects node.
  2. Select Data Sources. The node will list of all the data sources on the Workflow Server.
  3. Tip: You can refresh this list to reflect recent changes by clicking the Refresh link below Data Sources in the Actions Pane. Alternatively, right-click the Data Sources node and select Refresh.

To view the workflows that reference a specific data source

  1. In the center Details Pane, select a data source.
  2. Click View Linked Workflows under the data source's name in the Actions Pane, or right-click the data source and select View Linked Workflows.
  3. The Linked Workflows dialog box will show the names, descriptions, and versions of the workflows that reference the data source.

To add, modify, or delete a data source

  1. In the Console Pane, select the Data Sources node.
  2. Click Manage Data Sources in the Actions Pane. Alternatively, right-click the Data Sources node or any data source and select Manage Data Sources.
  3. Click Add, Configure, or Remove in the Workflow Data Source Administrator dialog box. More information.
  4. Note: To bypass the Workflow Data Source Administration dialog box and modify a data source directly, select a data source and click Edit Data Source under the data source's name in the Actions Pane. Alternatively, right-click a data source and select Edit Data Source.

To export the contents of this node in a .csv, .xml, or .txt file

  1. Select the node in the Console Pane.
  2. Select View from the main menu.
  3. Click ClosedExport Contents.
  4. In the Export data dialog box, name the exported file.
  5. Select CSV File, XML File, or Tab Delimited Text File from the drop-down menu.
  6. Click Save.
